It has been a clear holiday season with little snow but very cold temperatures. China Peak Ski Resort has been making snow so do not let that discourage you from coming to Shaver Lake for your winter break vacation. January and February are already booking up so do not delay and remember some of the best skiing comes in March. Here are the conditions:
China Peak is open daily 9AM-4PM with Chairs 1, 2, 4 & 6 plus all three moving carpets. Trails open include Upper Dynamite, Sundown Ridge, Kaiser, Middle/Lower Tollhouse, Lower Academy, the beginner area and now Upper Razorback & Mainstream. The Tubing Hill is open daily this week 11AM-4PM.
Surface conditions are machine groomed, hard pack (mostly in afternoon) and packed powder, base depths 12-18 inches. Coverage is very good on the open runs, but always ski and ride with care, stay on open runs only, and watch for marked or unmarked obstacles.
Everyone is surprised with the amount of snow and terrain open!
